HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three people were hurt by a suspect who allegedly shot at moving cars on Houston's northeast side, according to police.
The Houston Police Department confirmed in a news conference that a man in his 30s was shot by officers on Friday afternoon in the 6300 block of North Wayside Drive.
Officers said the man was armed with an automatic weapon and shot at three vehicles. After the suspect failed to obey commands to put the weapon down, investigators said three HPD officers and a DPS Trooper shot at the suspect to stop him.
Officials said the suspect was hurt more than once and was taken to the hospital, but they did not disclose his condition.
The three people who were shot have received medical attention and are all stabilized, HPD said.
A mother and her young daughter traveling together were injured in the shooting, along with a person in a third vehicle, investigators said.
Chief Noe Diaz said the mother and daughter stopped at nearby HFD Fire Station 43 to seek help.

An eyewitness told ABC13 that he saw a naked man in the middle of the street with a long gun.
